Once you have created your models in Inspire 3D Modeler, you Put
them in Layout and make them dance...
Importing
Models are loaded with their pivot point at the origin of Layout (0,0,0).
The pivot point is set as the same point where the origin is when you
save your model in Modeler.
Lighting
There must always be at least one light in Layout. You can delete the
default light, but only after you have created at least one more.
Lighting is very important for creating realistic scenes, and can be very
difficult to get just right. Practise different lighting arrangements
and think about using multiple lights and what they are for. $$
Camera
The camera is the means of viewing (and rendering) your final output.
It can be moved, rotated and more just like other objects, but for realism,
try and keep in mind what normal cameras do in movies.
One of the advantages of working in a virtual 3D world is that you can
do camera work not possible (or very difficult) in the real world. (e.g.
placing your camera high in the sky and swinging it down smoothly is quite
easy in Inspire.)

Saving
Inspire does not save surfacing attributes in the scene by default. You
need to click on the Save All Objects button in the Objects panel of Layout
to get the surfaces saved with your objects. This tip was found at the
Reservoir 3D
Centre website (2nd in links), which you should familiarise yourself
with.

Lecture notes are provided as a guide of
the content of lectures for pre-reading, revision and for
students who cannot attend lectures. While almost every
effort is made to make the online notes as complete as possible,
there is always material discussed in lectures that is not
in the notes.
You should not rely on these notes only!
If you miss a lecture and you do not understand something
in the notes, you should consult (in this order) other students,
the tutors, or the lecturer to try to work it out.
You are expected to read these lecture
notes as well as attending lectures, as vital information
is contained in both.
