The Billabong Sanctuary, just 17km south of Townsville, is a native Australian wildlife sanctuary. An award winning establishment, it is a must for any visitor. The sanctuary has daily feeding shows which include information about the animals, their habitat and behaviour. At some of the shows the animals are available for handling by the public under supervision of the keepers.
Barbarque facilities are provided for those wishing to bring their own food but there is also a snack bar and a swimming pool. Tours operate 7 days per week.
The Billabong Sanctuary has a web presence (www.billabongsanctuary.com.au) which includes times for animal feeding and wildlife talks.
