4.1 Rates

You will find the following formula useful:

		  volume   drops/ml
		= ------ x -------
		  hours      60

Calculate drip rates to the nearest whole number.

Example:

Calculate the drip rate in drops/minute for a 1000 ml flask of 0.9% sodium chloride to be infused over a period of 6 hours. The giving set has a drop factor of 20 drops/ml.
